Gymnast Welfare
We are sure that over the last couple of years, you may have heard about cases of gymnastics abuse on the news along with documentaries such as Athlete A. We also heard about these cases during the same time, and we are horrified by what we have heard. Whilst most of these cases have come out about coaching elite gymnasts, there is no excuse for what these gymnasts have experienced, and there is no place for this behaviour within our sport. Gymnastics is an incredible sport that teaches hard work, resilience, and determination amongst many other attributes, however this should and can be done in a manner that is safe, with the gymnasts’ health and well-being not being sacrificed. We will not tolerate any of this coaching behaviour at Sutton School of Gymnastics that we have heard about. We stand for ethical coaching practices that allow gymnasts to reach their full potential through teamwork, collaboration, and trust – not through fear.
If you have any concerns that you wish to discuss or report, you can get in touch with our welfare team on 07762851170, or via welfare@suttonschoolofgymnastics.co.uk. If you have any concerns about a child’s immediate safety, please contact 999.
