British Gymnastics Resources

British Gymnastics has produced and released a variety of resources for clubs to distribute and use with their members, and so we have compiled them here for you to use at home.

When training at home, please be aware this is at your own risk, and British Gymnastics insist that gymnasts only train at a level which is suited to their ability, and that gymnasts only training to the same level that they would normally at the club, ie. if they training once a week, then they should not train several hours a day at home.

Please make sure that you assess any risks before participating by making sure there is suitable space, and no trip hazards.

There are resources for different ages and ability of gymnast.

FUNdamentals:
FUNdamentals is a movement programme designed and developed by British Gymnastics in conjunction with early years specialists to help younger children from toddler to 5 years acquire essential physical, social and emotional life skills.The Programme has been developed with six early learning goals in mind - (Social, Physical, Linguistic, Intellectual, Creative, Educational)

Core Proficiency Awards:
The Core Proficiency Gymnastics Award scheme follows on from Pre- School for beginners and children aged 5years & upwards the scheme assists in the progressive development of core skills such as balance, strength, flexibility and co-ordination and incorporates compulsory pulse raising activities.

GymFit:
GymFit is a programme which can be used to improve the general fitness and physical condition of participants via a series of fun and challenging exercise work cards. There are beginner, intermediate and advanced work cards which work the upper body, lower body, core and cardio vascular system. The programme is flexible in application and is suitable for a wide range of ability groups.

Jump into Gymnastics:
Jump into Gymnastics has been developed with recreational gymnastics in mind. This programme can be used for children of any ability at primary school age.

FUNdamentals

Activities have been split into different themes, but can be completed in any order.
British Gymnastics have removed any activities which they feel are unsuitable to be done at home

Core Proficiency

Badges 8-4 have been released by British Gymnastics. Badge 8 is the first level, getting harder the lower number the level.  British Gymnastics have amended, where necessary, certain elements of the award scheme in order to make the activity safe and accessible for a home environment. Due to the skills required in certain levels of the award scheme there will be a cap on the level that can be achieved at home.

Please find the level which you feel is most suited to your ability.

GymFit

Each week, British Gymnastics is producing a new exercise work sheet for everyone to try out at home. There is a different worksheet for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced difficultly. If you are not sure what difficulty you should use, have a look, and choose the one that you think is best suited for yourself.
Once you have completed it, you can print off your certificate!

Jump into Gymnastics

Try out these weekly gymnastics sessions involving a warm up, three activities which develop gymnastics skills, and a cool down.
You can then print off a certificate to show your progress.
